How to Use a Tachymeter
A tachymeter is an instrument for measuring speed. It is a chronograph with a graduated dial on which speed may be read off in kilometers per hour based on 1000 meters distance. For example, the chronograph suggests that the distance of one kilometer has been covered in 30 seconds. The matching point on the tachymeter scale suggests 120, and therefore the speed is 120km per hour.

The Omega Story

The Omega watch story begins in 1848, when founder Louis Brandt begun hand assembling key-wound precision pocket watches from elements supplied by local craftsmen in his principality La Chaux-de-Fonds, in the northwest corner of Switzerland. However, the Omega name didn’t appear until 1894, after Louis Brandt had passed away and his watchmaking traditions were taken over by his sons, Louis-Paul and Cesar Brandt. Omega watches have long been related with glamorous screen and sports stars–the Omega Seamaster is famous for being the watch of choice for James Bond–with current ambassadors including Pierce Brosnan, Nicole Kidman, tennis player Anna Kournikova, and swimmers Michael Phelps and Ian Thorpe.

But Omega is more than just a fashionable watch. In 1965, the Omega Speedmaster chronograph was “flight-qualified by NASA for all manned space missions” as the only wristwatch to have withstood all of the U.S. space agency’s severe tests, including passing grades for extreme shocks, vibrations, and temperatures ranging from -18 to +93 degrees Celsius. The greatest moment in the Speedmaster’s history was undoubtedly 20 July 1969 at 02:56 GMT, when it recorded man’s firstborn steps on the Moon’s surface as share of the Apollo 11 mission. Omega watches rocketed off to space on a good deal of subsequent missions, including visits to Skylab and the historic Apollo-Soyuz link-up of Soviet and American astronauts in 1975.

In more recent years, Omega devised the world’s original self-winding wristwatch with central tourbillon in 1994 and made history in 1999 with the initial mass-produced watch incorporating the co-axial escapement, devised in conjunction with widely known and esteemed English master watchmaker George Daniels. In simple terms, the escapement is the heart of a mechanical watch, generating the impulses that make the mechanism move. Omega’s Co-Axial Escapement drasti reduces the friction amid the constituents that transmit energy to the other components, developing dandier stability and precision and reducing service requirements.

Today, Omega is known for it is stringent testing of new movements, cases, and bands. Each new Omega motion is tested on the wrist in existent Omega models, while respective laboratory tests are conducted to determine temperature-resistance, shock-resistance and vibration-resistance.

5Beautiful Watch
By RMallory
I was a bit leery when it comes to ordering an costly watch from a non-authorized dealer but so far, I am very happy with the purchase. I received it in new condition and with all the documentation. I took it to an Omega jeweler to have the band adjusted and he validated the authenticity of the watch.

1-beware

Bought this watch 11 months ago now it’s broken. Does not have factory warranty. Probably because it’s a grey market watch. Now I have to send it to Amazon’s 3rd party repair vendor. Which has poor reviews, GREAT!!!

5best deal on cosc omega
By W. Chu
i genuinely purchased 2 of this. this model has the omega 3033 motion that is cosc certified. not similar to rolex or patek, omega only has corroboration on few of it is movements. for a certified one at such price, it is a steal. amazon price is also significantly less than others on the net. you don’t get the warranty card from omega because it is sold through gray market. however, most watches with cosc never needs fix in the firstborn 5-10 years anyway and 3033 motion has a outstanding track record.
