The Omega Story
The Omega watch story begins in 1848, when founder Louis Brandt begun hand assembling key-wound precision pocket watches from elements supplied by local craftsmen in his principality La Chaux-de-Fonds, in the northwest corner of Switzerland. However, the Omega name didn’t appear until 1894, after Louis Brandt had passed away and his watchmaking traditions were taken over by his sons, Louis-Paul and Cesar Brandt. Omega watches have long been affiliated with glamorous screen and sports stars–the Omega Seamaster is widely known and esteemed for being the watch of choice for James Bond–with current ambassadors including Pierce Brosnan, Nicole Kidman, tennis player Anna Kournikova, and swimmers Michael Phelps and Ian Thorpe.

But Omega is more than just a fashionable watch. In 1965, the Omega Speedmaster chronograph was “flight-qualified by NASA for all manned space missions” as the only wristwatch to have withstood all of the U.S. space agency’s severe tests, including passing grades for extreme shocks, vibrations, and temperatures ranging from -18 to +93 degrees Celsius. The greatest moment in the Speedmaster’s history was undoubtedly 20 July 1969 at 02:56 GMT, when it recorded man’s introductory steps on the Moon’s surface as part of the Apollo 11 mission. Today, Omega is known for it is stringent testing of new movements, cases, and bands. Each new Omega motion is tested on the wrist in existent Omega models, while respective laboratory tests are conducted to determine temperature-resistance, shock-resistance and vibration-resistance.

Omega watches rocketed off to space on numerous subsequent missions, including visits to Skylab and the historic Apollo-Soyuz link-up of Soviet and American astronauts in 1975.

In more recent years, Omega formulated the world’s primary self-winding wristwatch with central tourbillon in 1994 and made history in 1999 with the introductory mass-produced watch incorporating the co-axial escapement, produced in conjunction with widely known and esteemed English master watchmaker George Daniels. In simple terms, the escapement is the heart of a mechanical watch, generating the impulses that make the mechanism move. Omega’s Co-Axial Escapement drasti reduces the friction amidst the elements that transmit energy to the other components, constructing dandier stability and precision and reducing service requirements.

Today, Omega is known for it is stringent testing of new movements, cases, and bands. Each new Omega motion is tested on the wrist in existent Omega models, while respective laboratory tests are conducted to determine temperature-resistance, shock-resistance and vibration-resistance.

1NOT AGAIN…
By KL
I was very nervous buying an item this costly on the net and I was right. When the watch arrived w/othe Omega serial card. When I contacted the service dept. and they sent the card a week later.
And the serial card looked like it was old. It had scratch all over the card and the funny thing is, the watch was ship from PA and the serial card from FL. What is that about?!!!
I have return the item and haven’t recieve the refund yet.
they held telling me to wait and mean while, the charge is still on my card. I would never buy this highpriced item online.

2Great watch but no Documents
By J. Trenh
This is a very beauteous watch. Amazon sells it at an exceedingly beautiful price. Ordered the watch and received in a couple of days. It’s too bad the watch didn’t come with any authenticity cards. I contacted client service but they offered no feasible solution. They told me to contact the manufacturer to get alternate cards. I was altogether baffled that Amazon would not resolve the issue themselves. I decisive to return the watch without delay for a refund. Amazon processed the refund rather effortlessly but I am still waiting for them to reimburse my shipping costs, it was over $30. For the price of the watch, if there isn’t authenticity cards, RETURN IT. Otherwise, it is a great looking watch.

5The watch is great, apparently beware of sellers
By Indy Ashlie
I perfectly love this watch. I’ve had it for various years and it still looks great. Note that the negative remarks are when it comes to the seller, not the watch.
