Cartier Womens Crtw3140007 Pasha Small

Blending a touch of timepiece history with a with no problems or difficulties innovative style, this Cartier Pasha stainless steel women’s automatic watch offers a contemporary European supplement that will never go out of style. Originally designed for the Pasha of Marrakech in the 1930s to enable him to safely swim while still wearing a watch, Cartier’s Pasha was one of the earliest water-resistant wristwatch designs. This model, with a water resistance of 330 feet, or 100 meters, is suitable for swimming and snorkeling. The round watch case–which measures 35mm wide (1.4 inches)–is topped by a flattened, highly polished bezel, and it’s accented by a distinguishable domed, screw-down crown. The rose pink dial features an interior square of little minute indexes, which is surrounded by thin stick markers, stylized Arabic numerals at the quarter hours (supplemented by dotted luminous marks), black-outlined luminous dauphine hands (with luminous-tipped seconds hand), and a date window amid 4 and 5 o’clock. It’s finished by a modular link stainless steel bracelet band with a polished finish to match the bezel.

An automatic (or self-winding) watch is fitted with a device (rotor) that mechanically winds the spring by using the strength of gravity. It needs no battery, but it will stop if you have been physically inactive for an extended amount of time of time–as long as you’re moving, the watch will stay powered. Swiss watchmaker Abraham-Louis Perrelet formulated the self-winding mechanism in 1770. It worked on the same principle as a modern pedometer, and was designed to wind as the proprietor walked.

The Cartier Story

The name Cartier is synonymous with luxury, quality, and style. Founded in Paris in 1847 by Louis-Francois Cartier, the company became famous international for it is design and production of gorgeous jewelry and opulent objets d’art. A royal commission in 1904 made Cartier a provider to Europe’s Crowned Heads of State and led England’s King Edward VII to describe Louis Cartier, grandson of the founder, as the jeweler of Kings, the King among jewellers.

By the early 20th century, Cartier had expanded it is collection to include watches. At a time when pocket watches were still considered de rigueur for the distinguished gentleman, Cartier helped popularize the wristwatch, making it a bold fashion statement for men and women as well as a status symbol amongst the well-to-do. Louis Cartier is credited with creating the primary men’s wristwatch, the Santos, in 1904. He formulated and named the watch for his client and friend, the Brazilian aviator Alberto Santos-Dumont, who necessitated a device that would grant him to read the time without taking his hands off the controls of his airplane.

Other classic designs followed, including Cartier’s signature timepiece–the Tank–which debuted in 1917 for the duration of the First World War and was inspired by the tough new war machine the Americans introduced to the fighting in Europe. Cartier’s introductory water-resistant watch was named after the Pasha of Marrakesh, who requested that Cartier invent watch that he could wear while in his swimming pool and not lose track of time.

And while it is known more for it is luxurious design, Cartier is also credited with creating the highly functional deployment folding clasp in 1910, which is now applied by watchmakers around the globe.

Modern Cartier watchmakers still base their watch designs on the early basi principles invented by Louis Cartier. Treasured by collectors, Cartier watches are distinguished by their impressive potpourri of shapes (round, square, oval, Tank, Tortue and Tonneau), by their special materials and workmanship, and by their recognizable Cartier aesthetic, an refined and tasteful blend of classic and progressed design.
