Brushed & Polished Stainless steel case and bracelet, Silver dial with Arabic numerals, Oval crown set with 1 off-centered diamond.

Grandly stylish with contemporary lines, the Baume & Mercier Diamant stainless steel women’s watch (model 8568) will add a dash of innovative style to any professional or casual ensemble. Made of high grade stainless steel, the watch case features a tank-style design (with wide, polished track-like sides) that measures 22mm wide (0.87 inches)–a great match for slender wrists. It’s accented by a distinctive oval silver crown with a single off-centered diamond. The silver sunray dial offers a mix of shiny silver stick and Arabic numeral markers, silver Dauphine hands, and a date window at 6 o’clock. The silver stainless steel bracelet band is composed of three columns of links (with a wider center column) and joined by a hidden, folding clasp. Other features include a scratch-resistant sapphire crystal, precise Swiss quartz movement, and water resistance to 30 meters (99 feet).

The dial is stamped with Baume & Mercier’s signature Greek letter Phi (Φ), which symbolizes the harmonious lines and a perfective remainder in design that the company constantly strives for. It’s long been used to denote the golden number, or ratio, which proposes a natural remainder among ratio and asymmetry.

The Baume & Mercier Story

Baume & Mercier has a rich history in storied tradition of Swiss watchmaking, now over 170 years. In 1830, brothers Louis Victor and Pierre-Joseph-Celestin Baume conventional the Baume Freres Watch firm in the Swiss Jura region–the heart of the Swiss watch industry. As business flourished in Europe a grandson of the founder, William Baume met Paul Mercier, a great lover of the arts and in 1918 they produced a business partnership. The contrast of the rigorous, precise Baume with the artistic, free thinking Mercier fused form and function to manufacture the traditions of perfection, quality, and lavishness that still subsist today.

In 1964, Baume & Mercier registered the Greek letter PHI as it is brand logo, and it proceeds to be present on all Baume & Mercier designs. A symbol of the golden ratio and Leonard de Vinci’s theory of proportion, it represents aesthetic elegance based on “divine proportions” that stay the brand’s cardinal values.

the designers at Baume & Mercier utilise the goldmine of the company’s over 175 years of watch-making history–from the oval of a crown to the graphics of a dial–to develop the aesthetic contours of new timepieces. Inspired by a rectangular pink gold watch introduced by Baume & Mercier in 1960, the signature Hampton line of watches was formulated as a blend of watchmaking tradition and contemporary design. And the company still lives by the firstborn slogan of the Baume brothers when they started Baume Freres: “Accept only perfection, only fabricate watches of the most eminent quality.”
