Aqua Teen Hunger Force Vols

Aqua Teen Hunger Force returns to the air for it is 7th season on Adult Swim. Fans of the surreal animated comedy series will find Frylock, Meatwad, and Master Shake are still grappling with the bizarre and ludicrous down by the Jersey Shore.

After a decade of more and more surreal adventures, the fast-food freaks of Aqua Teen Hunger Force prove that they still have numerous life in them in Volume 7, which compiles 11 sequences from the show’s sixth and seventh season. Hardcore fans might find the assembled stories here less than inspired when equated to numerous of the show’s past highlights, but there are still a handful of flat-out hilarious sequences on hand, most notably “Rubberman,” which worries a monster duck formulated by Frylock out of refuse, and “Rabbot Redux,” which finds the Aqua Teens moving to the other side of neighbor Carl’s house, and the title monster, which debuted in the very introductory ATHF, returning for more mayhem. Unfortunately, these are weighed down by such middling attempts as “Multiple Meats” (Master Shake without advance planning brings about a legion of Meatwads), “Der Inflatable Fuhrer” (Bill Hader voices Adolf Hitler, who’s been reincarnated as a balloon), and the season closer, “The Last One Forever and Ever,” a share live-action episode which sees rapper T-Pain as Frylock and one Dave Long Jr., who won a Carl look-alike contest. Diehards will undoubtedly pardon the lesser sequences due to the inspired nature of the standouts, even though more substantive extras (or the Christmas episode, with Public Enemy) might have helped sway those viewers who regard ATHF as on the decline. The core of the supplements focus on the live-action experiment, including a look at Long Jr.’s transformation into Carl. The remainder is consecrated to quirky non sequiturs like the musical numbers from “Rubberman” and the ridiculous live-action horror parody, “Terror Phone II: The Legend of Rakenstein.” –Paul Gaita

4Strong Season, finelooking good DVD.
By Bonnie B. Petter
The sequences on this set are good. I even like the live action one. I feel like the sequences are overall more inviolable than vol.6.

3Solid episodes, but I don’t like the one disc format
By K. Gordon
In switching to a single disc format, this ‘volume’ in truth combines spotlight episodes
from seasons 6 and 7, so, not similar to all earlier volumes, there are now a number of episodes
simply not available on DVD. That itself is a major disappointment.

It likewise means the extras are a lot skimpier, and feel like less crusade went into them.

There are three sequences I’d consider amongst the series best, altho there are likewise a couple of the least
funny ever as well. For me, the highlights were “Fry Legs”, “Rubberman” and “Eggball”, but as always, which
episodes you like best is likely to vary from person to person.

Worth it if you’re a fan, but very disappointing in terms of approach.
